⛄️ Beat the Winter Blues at Pease Park ❄️

Winter isn’t dreadful, but instead the season to slow down and be intentional.

We see plants lose their leaves and many animals enter various states of dormancy to get through the colder season. In our case, the cold and shortened daylight can alter our mood and leave us feeling drained. We’re here to remind you that there are things that you can do at Pease Park to get through Winter.

Life Kit’s How to actually look forward to winter episode shares that an evening walk in the cold, or an outdoor picnic with warm food and drink, can help us “take back the winter”. Many studies show that spending time outdoors, touching soil, or even being around trees can improve our mental and physical well-being. What better way to brighten the winter blues than by volunteering with Pease Park Conservancy!

Splash pad season lasts till Halloween-- let’s enjoy it!

Every year, thousands of kids (and let’s be honest, a fair number of grown-ups) come to Pease Park to splash, play, and cool off in the Texas heat. It’s one of those simple joys that brings our community together.

But behind all the fun, we work hard to make sure the water stays clean and safe. One of the ways we do that is with UV lights-- yep, the kind that zap harmful bacteria so chlorine doesn’t have to work overtime. That means better water quality, fewer chemicals, and a safer splash for everyone.

Four Trees to Come Down

Four Trees to Come Down

Four older trees must come down in Kingsbury Commons near the western trail. The City of Austin Urban Forestry department will be onsite starting Friday, August 8, through Wednesday, August 13, to remove these trees that have experienced loss of major limbs and could potentially pose a danger to park visitors because of their age and fragility. We have loved these trees in this shaded grove across from the Treehouse and along the trail, and we are sad to see them go.

Ways to Support the Rescue and Recovery Efforts in Texas Hill Country!

There are so many people and organizations working to help with the flood recovery efforts. Here are just a few organizations accepting donations of items and dollars to help those efforts. Austin Monthly Magazine has also published a list of businesses donating portions of their proceeds to this effort. Any help is a big help, thank you!
