Pease Park Conservancy celebrates the diverse ecology and history that make Austin’s first public park valuable and unique. The Conservancy works to restore, enhance, and maintain this 84-acre public green space for the sustainable use and enjoyment of all, pursuing initiatives and investments that support historically underserved Austinites, revealing the wonders of the natural world and the intersections and tensions of our evolving place within it.

After successfully implementing the first phase of the Pease Park Vision Plan in 2019, Pease Park Conservancy has seen visitation to the park grow to more than 200,000 annually in Kingsbury Commons alone. The Conservancy intends to implement future phases of the Vision Plan, collaborating with the City of Austin, donors, stakeholders, partners, and consultants on plans for continued improvements. Pease Park Conservancy works in close partnership with the City of Austin to set the standard for world-class park management to improve and care for this treasured green space for the enjoyment of all.

Job: Finance Manager

Position Description:
Pease Park Conservancy (PPC) seeks a skilled and committed Finance Manager with passion for the mission of Pease Park Conservancy to help drive, assess, and forecast the organization’s continued growth and financial sustainability. This position is a crucial part of maintaining the financial health of the organization and will be an important member of our leadership team.

The Finance Manager

  • Manages all accounting functions - accounts payable, accounts receivable, electronic banking, monthly reconciliations, journal entries, month-end books

  • Maintains accounting controls and financial security by following all policies, procedures, and Internal controls

  • Prepares and reviews payments, billing, revenue, or other accounting transactions by verifying documentation and accurately completing transactions

  • Accurately codes organizational revenue and expenses utilizing the chart of accounts

  • Prepares monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flow) and related analyses for review by the Leadership team, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors

  • Prepares and manages our annual audit and Form 990 tax return (with outside auditors)

  • Manages all insurance policies (with risk management consultants)

  • Prepares fiscal year detailed budgets and corresponding cash flow budgets, to be presented to the Leadership team, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors

  • Manages all payroll functions and processing

  • Administers all benefits

  • Maintains and organizes all financial documentation and records

  • Assists with preparation, administration, tracking, and reporting of budgets for grant applications and PPC programs; prepares financial reports and invoices for grants

  • Performs and assists with other HR and IT functions, especially as it relates to staff onboarding

Cualificaciones:

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience; CPA certification a plus

  • Minimum of 3 years accounting/finance experience, 5+ years preferred

  • Sophisticated understanding of day-to-day accounting processes, general ledger work, and detailed budget processes

  • Advanced experience with Excel, Quickbooks, Gusto (or other payroll/benefits systems), and AirTable required; Salesforce experience preferred

  • Detail-oriented, analytical, with a sense of urgency

  • Organized self-starter who can communicate advanced financial information concisely

  • Experience with creating and implementing budgets, tracking expenses, forecasting, and communicating progress

  • Collaborative and collegial point of view; common sense and good humor required!

The Finance Manager also leads by example and assists Pease Park Conservancy staff with general office duties and special projects as needed in a small nonprofit environment.

The Conservancy’s offices overlook Kingsbury Commons located at 1609 Shoal Creek Blvd., Suite 305, Austin, TX 78701.

This is a full-time position with flexible scheduling and the ability to work from home or the office, though this position does require weekly coordinated time in the office for certain financial duties.

Salary Range:
The hiring range for this position is $60,000 to $75,000 commensurate with skills and experience. A generous benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 403b plan with a match, vacation time, sick leave, and paid holidays.
