Position Description:
The Park Operations Tech is responsible for facilities, grounds, and custodial maintenance under the supervision of the Director of Park Operations. The Park Operations Tech will provide quality upkeep of the 7-acre Kingsbury Commons section of Pease Park. This position is foundational to Pease Park’s vision of ensuring a clean, safe, and high-quality visitor experience.

Specific Responsibilities:
Facilities Maintenance

Preserve “hardscapes” such as paved surfaces, basketball court, cornhole court, mulch, and other trails. Includes blowing pathways, debris and litter removal, power washing, and inspection for damage, vandalism, or other needed repairs. Prompt graffiti or gum removal as needed, and responsibility to address issues as soon as they are identified.

Maintain “site features” such as the Tudor Cottage, Treehouse, drinking fountain, lighting, fencing, walls, exercise equipment, playscape, water feature, seating, and irrigation. Daily site walk and inspection of all grounds facilities to ensure upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance. Troubleshoot, suggesting maintenance updates and repairs as needed and report issues as they arise.

Groundskeeping
Perform “softscape” maintenance and general landscaping in coordination with the Conservation Manager, Horticulture Coordinator, and volunteers. Includes litter removal, weeding, pruning, raking, planting, leaf blowing, edging, bed maintenance, trash removal, and other grounds services as needed. Work in a variety of landscapes including display garden beds, lawn and woodlands. Lead work with volunteer groups.

Custodial Service:
Restroom deep cleans and hourly checks, restock soap and toilet paper, attend to as-needed spot cleans onsite. Empty trash and recycling cans daily, carrying trash and recycling to dumpsters.

Security and Emergencies:
Communicate concerns regarding infrastructure, safety hazards, and park usage issues as necessary. Report public disturbances, violations of use, and enforce park rules when necessary, ensuring a safe experience.

Hospitality:
Ongoing friendly, proactive engagement of park visitors, acting as onsite point of contact. Greet visitors, answer questions, and educate of appropriate usage.

Special Event Support:
Logistics, set up, and break down of event features. Post-event clean up.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Love of the outdoors and ability to perform rigorous physical labor on a daily basis in year-round weather conditions

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate power equipment

  • Ability to stand, squat, kneel, climb ladders, and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to follow and maintain quality standards and detailed record keeping

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment

  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Salary & Benefits:
The Park Operations Tech position is hiring for a part-time 16 hour per week non-exempt position at $21.00 an hour.
