Excursiones escolares de Peasecology

Environmental learning is a key part of our mission at Pease Park Conservancy. Through our volunteer and programming efforts, we are committed to encouraging Austinites to become stewards of our natural areas and green spaces.

Over the course of 2023, we have curated and facilitated service-learning field trips to Pease Park. In our first semester, the program sprouted from an idea into a full-fledged program where we were able to lead excursions for over 300 students from 5 different schools, including:

  • Hillcrest Elementary

  • Graham Elementary

  • Blanton Elementary

  • Cedar Creek Elementary

  • Rawson Sanders

As the 2023-24 academic school year takes root, the program continues to grow. For this year, we already have 10 schools set to participate and either join us for the first time or return for another excursion! We have also had the opportunity to partner with the Outdoor Learning Team from AISD to host 8 Title-1 schools for these unique excursions.

With the start of this new school year, the program is now called the Peasecology School instead of the Ecologist School Field Trip Program. This name aligns with the Conservancy’s branding and our ongoing Peasecology content and better represents what the field trip experience entails.

We assure you that the program remains the same in substance, format, and content. Students participate in an interactive learning component during their visit, and they complete a volunteer project for the park alongside our Operations Team.

Pease Park Conservancy continues to emphasize equity in these experiences by focusing our efforts on Title-1 schools.

The Conservancy covers the costs of transportation and lunch for participating Title-1 schools and offers free teacher copies of the Ecologist School Pocket Guide, created by Families In Nature.
